Hi Deb and Dave and Andy,
Lumpy here. Just wanted to drop you a line post-camp, to let you know how it went, and to ask for your input for things you would like to see in the future.
Sue was lovely. I think she was overwhelmed from time to time, as a great deal of emotion surfaced each day as we remembered Jordan. I’m sure in future years, I will take some time to prep the recipient at the start of camp so that they might be well-prepared.
At campfire the first night I introduced ( or re-introduced ) Jordan to the camp, and explained that she had passed, and that Celtic had been one of her favourite things, and that we and her family wanted to keep her spirit and memory part of camp. Teyve and I played and sang Loch Lomond in Jordan’s honour.
Each day at camp, there were a few moments when a coach, some campers, or counsellors would make tribute to her in some way. There was a banner made for people to write memories and thoughts, and to sign in recognition of Jordan’s time here at Celtic. On the last day, we gathered near the girls’ path at the north end of camp and planted 2 apple trees in Jordan’s memory.
We missed her at Celtic.
I hope you guys take some comfort in knowing how much she is loved here, and in the fact that Sue and others will have some enriched experiences because of your family.
Congratulations on winning such a special award Jojo would be very proud of you
The Fawcett family was honoured to present Sue Hales with the first ever Jordan Fawcett Memorial Award. Sue will attend Camp Celtic this August as Jordan’s personal friend. Congratulations Sue and we hope Camp Celtic will hold as many fond memories for you as it did for Jordan.
